Global Discourse Chinese Recitation Competition

My first experience with the Global Discourse Chinese Recitation Competition was a whirlwind! In June 2021, during the Summer of the 4th competition, my teacher suddenly notified me that I would be participating. With only one week to prepare and record, it was a blur of activity. I still remember the intensity of those few days. I managed to memorize three whole pages of Chinese text in just one day! Looking back, I’m amazed at how I accomplished that. I then spent two days receiving instruction and guidance, followed by a day of recording. To my surprise and delight, I was awarded the National and International Gold Prize! It was a testament to my hard work and dedication during that intense week, and a truly rewarding experience.

In 2023, I participated in the Global Discourse Chinese Recitation Competition again. This time, I had more time to prepare and refine my recitation. While I didn’t achieve the National and International Gold Prize as I did in 2021, I was still proud to earn a National Bronze Medal. It was a valuable experience that helped me further develop my language skills and stage presence.

Most recently, in 2024, I took on the challenge of the Global Discourse Chinese Recitation Competition once more. With each competition, I gained more confidence and a deeper understanding of the nuances of the Chinese language. I was thrilled to be awarded a National Silver Medal, marking my progress and dedication to mastering Chinese recitation.
